Animal Testing Policy

The Elixery is a vegan and cruelty free company. We do not conduct or commission animal testing of any ingredient or finished product, either directly or indirectly. We hold our suppliers to strict standards, requiring certification that each ingredient we use in the manufacture of our products is free of both animal testing and animal-derived raw materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you test your products or raw materials on animals? Do you contract a third party to test on animals?

Never! Michael is the only animal we test on (mostly because he's got a lovely skin tone.)

We don't send out for animal testing, either. Our chemist witnessed animal testing in a previous job and it broke her heart in a million pieces. We're very much against it!

We're also careful to choose suppliers that don't test ingredients on animals. Our products are free from animal testing back to the source.

Do you have a parent company that tests on animals?

Nope, we're an independent laboratory in Minneapolis.

Do you sell your products in China? (Where testing on animals is mandatory)

No, we don't sell our products in China. We also don't get any ingredients from China.

Do you sponsor rodeos?

No, we've never sponsored a rodeo!

Are your products vegan? Do they contain ingredients of animal origin such as lanolin, beeswax, honey, milk, silk, non-vegetable glycerin, hydrolyzed keratin, carmine, etc?

Nope! We're really careful about checking that stuff. For example, we we're going to buy some Zinc Stearate - something you usually don't associate with animal products - and found out it was made with beef tallow. Yuck! Luckily our chemist knows what to look for and what questions to ask. If we're not sure about an ingredient, we don't use it. Our products are 100% vegan.

Are your products gluten free?

Our chemist has Celiac's disease, so naturally our laboratory has absolutely no gluten-containing-anything anywhere.

Where are your products made?

Our products are made in the U.S. - specifically Minneapolis, Minnesota, in an old-time laboratory and with love.
